AgroHyd news:

Water is the basis of life and a crucial factor in agricultural food production. As much as 80 % of worldwide water consumption is used for irrigation in agriculture. Even under normal climate condition the water availability levels are expected to decline by 50 % to 6.300 m³ per capita by 2050, due to population growth alone.

Through the synergy of the hydrological and agronomical approaches, the project result — efficient water use at farms via the most suitable measures — presents an innovative possibility of adapting agricultural production to global changes, of counteracting increasing over-use and exploitation of water resources for food production, and of making sustainable management possible.

Research will be carried out by the Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering Potsdam-Bornim e.V. (ATB) in cooperation with universities and other research institutes.

This project AgroHyd is funded by the Leibniz Association
in the context of the "Joint Initiative for Research and Innovation". AgroHyd is one of the winners chosen by the Senate Competition Committee (SAW) of the Leibniz Association.
